Itinerary at a Glance
Day 1: Nairobi to Amboseli
Morning pick-up from your Nairobi hotel or the airport and drive south through the Maasai plains towards the Tanzanian border. Check in at your lodge for lunch, then enjoy an afternoon game drive with Kilimanjaro on the horizon.
Day 2: Full Day in Amboseli
Set out at sunrise, when Kilimanjaro is usually at its clearest. Spend the day around the swamps where elephants, buffalo, hippos and hundreds of bird species gather, and climb Observation Hill for a view over the whole park.
Day 3: Morning Game Drive and Return to Nairobi
A final early game drive, then breakfast and check-out. Add an optional visit to a Maasai village before driving back to Nairobi, with drop-off at your hotel or the airport.
Good to Know Before You Go
Seeing Kilimanjaro
The mountain is often hidden by cloud in the middle of the day. Early mornings and late afternoons give you the best chance of a clear view, which is exactly when your game drives are planned.

Best time to visit
The dry seasons, from June to October and from January to February, bring wildlife close to the swamps and give the best game viewing. The green seasons are quieter, with lush scenery and fewer vehicles.
