Itinerary at a Glance
Day 1: Nairobi to Mombasa by SGR
Board the Madaraka Express at the Nairobi SGR Terminus in Syokimau. The journey takes you past Athi River and through Tsavo, where you may spot elephants and giraffes from the train. On arrival at the Mombasa terminus, transfer to your hotel, check in and spend the evening by the ocean.
Day 2: Beach Day on the North Coast
A free day to swim, relax by the pool or walk along the white sand. Add an optional excursion to Fort Jesus and Old Town, Haller Park, or a sunset dhow cruise on Tudor Creek. Ask our team to book any extras before you travel.
Day 3: Departure and Return to Nairobi
Breakfast at the hotel and check-out, then transfer to the Mombasa SGR terminus for your train back to Nairobi.
Good to Know Before You Go
Best time to visit
The coast is warm all year. September to November is mid season, with good weather and lower prices than the busy December holidays. From mid December to early January, hotels fill up fast and rates rise, so book early if you plan to travel then.

Half Board, Full Board or All Inclusive?
Half Board covers breakfast and dinner. Full Board adds lunch. All Inclusive covers all meals, snacks and selected drinks, which is the best value if you plan to spend most of your time at the hotel. Check the hotel name in the rate table for its meal plan.

Are SGR tickets included in the Mombasa package?
Yes. Every rate includes return SGR economy tickets between Nairobi and Mombasa. First class tickets are available at an extra cost, subject to availability.
How long is the SGR trip from Nairobi to Mombasa?
The Madaraka Express takes roughly five to six hours, depending on the service. We will confirm your departure time when we book your tickets.
Can I extend my stay beyond 2 nights?
Yes. Extra nights can be added at most hotels. Tell us how long you want to stay and we will send you an updated quote.
Can I pay for the holiday in instalments?
Yes. Lipa mdogo mdogo is available, so you can pay in instalments before your travel date. Talk to our team for a payment plan that suits you.
Do you have rates for children?
Yes. Child rates depend on the hotel and the child's age. Send us your family details and we will share an exact quote.
